Details on Kanye West's "Good Ass Job" Emerge; Rap World Rejoices

Details have been slowly coming out about 'Ye's new album. Rumored collaborators floating around include RZA, Q-Tip and Pete Rock for production and Big Sean, Dwele, Drake and Clipse for some verses. So far Q-Tip and Dwele have confirmed they are in fact working on the project and Sean's been on record as contributing, I believe out in Hawaii, as well.

No real surprises on the cameos except for the possibilities of RZA and Pete Rock contributing. And really besides this lineup, all rap fans could really wish for is a Jay-Z appearance, and personally I'd like a Consequence and Mos Def to pop back up in the tracklist somewhere. A verse by Lupe would be dope too. The mixtape Lupe though.

Good Ass Job appears to be lining up to be a classic hip-hop album. I've told anyone that would listen for the past year and a half that 808s is the best thing to happen to hip-hop music, and I think the product that will be GAJ will show that. But that is for another blog post another day.

Jay-Z v. Kanye West - The Showdowns

I know this is the second Kanye-cameo related post in a very short time period, but this is a nice look back at all the songs Jay and 'Ye have been featured on together and who wins each round.

Kanye's 10 Best Scene-Stealing Guest Verses

Complex just put together a pretty nice list of moments of Kanye's self-professed genius. It's only based on rap songs, so his steller R&B verses get left off.

Check out the article here.

Also, read the comments for the heated defending of Slum Village. Pretty funny. I think Elzhi has some disciples.

Video - Kanye West Feat. Mos Def "Two Words"

I am not posting this up.

I don't care if Kanye just threw it up on his blog and those stills from "Spaceship" surfaced the other day, this video is old.

OLD.

And I hate using caps.

iTunes released this over two years ago; stop acting like it's new. You can look it up on youtube and see for yourself.

I thought people knew about this rap shit. Leave it to a white boy...

One thing Busta still amazes me with is how he doesn't mind commandeering an entire song. Not saying this is the best verse dropped to this beat, but he sounds in control. Doesn't he though?

lookin' to catch your ass slippin' right behind you
catchin' you makin' bacon and lay you down like the swine flu
damn, somebody pass me a face mask
cause I ain't tryin' to catch a late pass from your fake ass"

Damn, I'd have written Bun's whole verse out if I wasn't busy. That's how you remix a track.

*New* Mixtape - Kanye West: LVs & Autotune v. 2

So, this is exactly what I've been waiting for and quietly assembling in an iTunes playlist. Pretty much an assembly of all of 'Ye's wonderful cameos as of late and a couple extras goodies thrown in. Big ups to 2DB for finding this, P&P with the link.

Enjoy,
Benn

*Unreleased* The Outfit [Kanye West, GLC, Timmy G & Arrow Star] "187th"

""
^^i told you; i'm in class^^

I'll let FSD explain:

First and foremost, the lineup in the picture above (Kanye West, Rhymefest, Mikkey Halsted, GLC & Timmy G in 1999) is just crazy. If we could only get everyone back together for one track, the world would be a better place. I won't hold my breath, though.

Anyhoo, all praises to GLC for unleashing this never-before-heard heater. Recorded in 1996 (yes, 2Pac was still alive), and produced by a young Kanye West, The Outfit was an early version of the Go-Getters. Here, GLC, Timmy G and Arrows Starr all drop their individual verses, while Kanye supplies the hook. Classic material.

Shouts to GLCityMusic (shout over there to catch GL's take on the song) and be sure to catch GLC and Kanye tonight LIVE on BET's 106 & Park (5pm Central) premiering "Big Screen"

Video - Vintage Kanye West & Jay-Z in the Studio

Kanye West In The Studio! from Rob Yung on Vimeo.

Listen to Jay sound off on 'Ye at the 5:25 mark. Stole from FSD:

Today, OG Neckbone (no seriously, that's his name), sent me some throwback footage of a young Kanye West working in the studio as well as spitting a few bars. I'm guessing this is 6-7 years old, but it could even be older than that. It even features some footage at Baseline Studios in NYC with Jay-Z and company, not to mention a quick shot of GLC and Kanye walking through the mall (in front of the Lark) while GLC enjoys an Icee.

This is a must watch. The boy has come a long way! I doubt he could even go in a mall these days.

And what is the track he's playing for Jigga and Young Guru? I'm sure someone has it in their vaults. Please donate to the FSD fund.
